Giuseppe Lippi, MD

Full Professor of Clinical Biochemistry, Section of Clinical Biochemistry, University of Verona, Verona, Italy

Prof. Giuseppe Lippi was born in Padova (Italy) on October the 4th, 1967. He has taken the degree in Medicine in 1986 and the specialization in Clinical Biochemistry and Laboratory Medicine in 1992. He currently serves as Full Professor of Clinical Biochemistry at the University of Verona (Italy), director of the clinical chemistry and haematology laboratories of the University Hospital of Verona (Italy) and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Verona.

As regards the scientific activity, he has published more than 2100 articles in peer-reviewed journals, his total Impact Factor is 13000 and the Hirsch Index (H-index) is 132. He has participated to more than 600 national and international congresses and has given more than 350 lectures to national and international meetings. He has been awarded with the 2014 Management Sciences and Patient Safety Division Award of the American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC) for outstanding contributions in the field of patient safety in the clinical laboratory/healthcare industry and with the Outstanding Speaker Award from the AACC in 2016. Giuseppe Lippi is also Associate Editor of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine and Seminars in Thrombosis and Hemostasis, Chair of the IFCC Task Force on COVID-19, Chair of the EFLM Task Force of Laboratory Preparedness for emergencies and member of the EFLM working group on preanalytical variability.

The main areas of research include pre-analytical variability, analytical and clinical validation of biomarkers, metabolism of lipoproteins and relevant assay methods, diagnosis and management of disorders of haemostasis and thrombosis, COVID-19.


Bing Gu, MD

Dr. Bing Gu, Professor, is a visiting fellow at Purdue University and University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). He is now the Discipline leader of Department of Laboratory Medicine of Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital. Dr. Gu is one of the key medical talents of Jiangsu provincial project of “Promoting the Health Service through Science and Education”, an elected member of “333 High-level Talents Training Project”, Provincial High-level Talent Project of “Six Talent Peaks”, and “Advanced Health Talents of ‘Six-one’ Project” of Jiangsu province. Dr. Gu is a vice chairman of Youth Committee of Chinese Society of Laboratory Medicine (CSLM), vice chairman of Laboratory Medicine Branch of China Association of Medical Equipment, member of the standing committee of Laboratory Medicine Branch of Chinese Geriatrics Society (CGS), a member of Chinese Committee on Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (ChiCAST) of the European Committee for Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (EUCAST), commissioner of Jiangsu Research Hospital Association, chairman of expert committee of infection test and rational use of medicines of Jiangsu Research Hospital Association. He serves as a reviewer for the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). He is also in charge of AME Academic Salon of AME Publishing Company. He is currently severing as Executive Editor of Journal of Laboratory and Precision Medicine, Co-Editor-in-Chief of Annals of Infection, Managing Editor of Annals of Translational Medicine and Editorial Board Member of Journal of Thoracic Disease.

Dr. Gu’s research focuses on advanced technologies for rapid detection of infectious diseases and mechanisms of multidrug resistance in bacteria. He chaired four projects supported by National Nature Science Foundation of China (NSFC), eight provincial projects supported by the Natural Science Foundation of Jiangsu Province. To date, he has published 76 papers as the first author or corresponding author in SCI-indexed journals (21 papers in JCR Q1 journals), including Emerg Infect Dis, Gut Microbes, PLoS Pathog, Emerg Microbes Infect, J Antimicrob Chemothe, and J Clin Microbiol, etc. He also has served as an Editor-in-Chief or Associate Editor of 18 academic monographs and textbooks. He won Second Prize of Jiangsu Science and Technology Award, Jiangsu medical science and Technology Award, and six Prizes of Introduction of Advanced Technology from Jiangsu Commission of Health, and obtained five patents.
