Dr Emmanuel J Favaloro is a Principal Hospital Scientist, in charge of the Haemostasis laboratories at the Institute of Clinical Pathology and Medical Research (ICPMR), located at Westmead Hospital, the largest public tertiary level university teaching hospital in Australia. The ICPMR is also a part of the New South Wales Health Pathology group, which represents the largest public health pathology group in Australia. Dr Favaloro has co-authored over 700 papers and is the current Editor in Chief of Seminars in Thrombosis & Hemostasis, and a member of the editorial/advisory boards of seven other international journals. He is a current or past member of several International Society on Thrombosis and Hemostasis (ISTH) Scientific & Standardisation Committees (SSCs) and Working Parties, a past member of several CLSI-guideline working groups, a founding member of the Sydney Centres for Thrombosis and Haemostasis, and a current member of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia Quality Assurance Program (RCPAQAP) Haematology haemostasis advisory committee. His primary interest is laboratory testing and diagnosis related to bleeding and thrombosis, particularly in developing and evaluating new or improved diagnostics.
