Chun Kiat Lee
Molecular Diagnosis Centre, Department of Laboratory Medicine, National University Health System, Singapore
Research interests: Molecular Diagnosis; infectious diseases; epidemiology; drug resistance; high-throughput sequencing; unbiased metagenomics; bioinformatics; laboratory improvement and quality control.
Chun Kiat Lee obtained his BSc in Biomedical Science at National University of Singapore in 2007, his MSc in Biotechnology at University of Adelaide in 2014. He currently holds the position of laboratory supervisor at the Molecular Diagnosis Centre of Department of Laboratory Medicine, National University Health System. He has published more than 40 publications in international peer-review journals.
Chun Kiat Lee is interested in the development of molecular diagnostic assays for infectious diseases as well as sequencing assays using next-generation sequencing (NGS) technique. He is awarded the NUHS Allied Health and Nursing grant to develop an unbiased metagenomic next-generation sequencing assay (mNGS) for the broad-based identification of respiratory viral pathogens in a clinical setting. Currently, he is looking into the use of NGS for drug resistance testing for HIV-1 and CMV and mNGS for unbiased detection of RNA and DNA viruses in clinical settings.
