Laura Pighi was born in Verona (Italy) on May 25th, 1992. She obtained her Master's degree in Medicine and Surgery from Sapienza - University of Rome in 2020. She is currently specializing in Clinical Biochemistry and Clinical Pathology at the University of Verona, where she also serves as a Medical Doctor in the Laboratory of Clinical Chemistry and Haematology at the University Hospital of Verona (Italy). She is a member of the Italian Society of Clinical Biochemistry and Clinical Molecular Biology (SIBioC).
As regards scientific activity, she has published more than 40 articles in peer-reviewed journals. Her main research interests in the field of Clinical Biochemistry and Laboratory Medicine include Pre- and post-analytical variability in laboratory testing, Clinical laboratory procedures and methods evaluation/validation, Biomarkers of SARS-CoV-2 infection, and diagnostic testing for SARS-CoV-2, Serum protein electrophoresis and relevant assay methods, Clinical chemistry, Haematology, and Coagulation testing.
