Abstract

Fecal calprotectin (FC) is a non-invasive biomarker of intestinal inflammation, widely used to differentiate inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) from functional gastrointestinal disorders such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Its high sensitivity can reduce the need for invasive colonoscopies and is valuable for disease monitoring and therapeutic follow-up. This study evaluated the performance of the Calprest Turbo turbidimetric assay compared with the Liaison Calprotectin chemiluminescent assay, with potential workflow advantages through a dedicated platform for fecal analysis.
